Discover Card
Lobbyist funded usury

Forget the class action vultures who will eventually find a reason to sue Discover Card for their deceptive, abusive and usurious practices. The only winners in a class action suit are the attorneys who rake in enormous fees by capitalizing on the woes caused to millions of consumers. These suits will never reform eggregious practices in the credit card industry. The only hope consumers have is to vote out every politician who has take a dime of lobbyist money from this company. No other industry allows binding contracts to be written in unintelligible mumble jumble in font size that even our courts would disallow. Trouble understanding overcharges, late fees, interest hikes, miscellaneous charges? Call your representative and ask them to explain it to you. It must have seemed fair and reasonable to them when they sat in box seats at a sporting event or accepted campaign donations from the cadre of lobbyists who convinced them that corporate greed supercedes the duty owed to the citizens who put them in office. Next time you get a call from Discover card, call your legislator: Ask them to explain the fine print on your bill. Too many of us are silent because there is shame attached to being in debt. We're supposed to feel like losers when we can't meet obligations that grow exponentially with fees and late penalties and raised interest rates that turn a small debt into an ever growing mountain. The shame belongs to the politicians who have failed to protect us from these practices. Pay attention to the legislators who are trying to effect reform: Rep. Ellison's Universal Default Reform Act of 2007 is one example. Refuse to support any representative who had taken lobbyist money or votes against consumer rights in favor of credit card companies. Forget shame, take action.
