So many of these stories are the same as mine. It really kills me knowing that this is going on and there is NOTHING that I can do about it. 4 months have gone by and it feels like just yesterday... I bought a 9 week old great dane puppy (BELLA) from Bill Bartmann. I was already uneasy about the shipping seeing that she had to be locked up in a create for 7 hours, but Bill convinced me that it was ok and that he has never had a problem. Bella was sent to me on 6/13 I was so exited. I left work early to pick her up at 4:05 from the buffalo airport... Not even an hour later I was rushing this poor skin and bone puppy the the emergency vet. Where i was told that she had parvo... I had no idea what that ment... Bella was throwing up so hard that she couldnt breath and had bloody diarrhea. I of course signed whatever paperwork I had to to get her better.
On my way home i stopped at my parents house to make a phone call to mr. Bartmann when I told him what was going on he didnt seem at all concerned or shocked. I asked him if he was willing to help me that i was looking at over $6,000 for 3 days of treatment and only having a 50% chance of living. He told me NO said that that is too much money and told me that i was crazy for wanting to spend that kind of money to save a puppy he told me to put her to sleep. After 4 hours I called the vet to check on Bella they said that they couldnt really do much yet she was so dehydrated that they couldnt take blood or start any treatment. They said it wasnt looking good. After talking to my mother and boyfriend i knew that i had to put her to sleep... And i did... I still think all the time that I should have went through with all of the treatment there was still a chance. As horrible as it sounds i had to choose between trying to save Bella and the chance of our 5 year old pitbull mix getting it and I would have had no money to treat out Pitbull. (and she did get sick and i had to spend $500 on her to get her better) In the end i put a stop pay on my credit card and disputed it with them.
I contacted my local news and they aired my piece about this tragedy... I also contacted the spca in Oklahoma they did nothing i called the humane socity and they did nothing and i called the local sheriff station in Tulsa and they did nothing... All the same response " puppy mills are legal here" so now with nothing that i can do but sign the heck out of petitions to stop puppy mills and try to get the word out as much as possible. Dont buy dogs from on line and defiantly dont get the from oklahoma, missouri, pennsylvania, wisconsin, and the list goes on... BE CAREFUL AND TRY TO HELP STOP THIS HORRIFC CAREER FOR THESE JERKS!
Oh yeah and after channel 4 new contacted him he then said that he would refund my money and help with vet bills a lot too late.
