I recieved a call one sat afternoon from a capital first credit card company, (a man who spoke broken english) Offering me a credit card with a 2500$ credit limit, to re-establish our credit. I must admit at first i was intrigued, then Moms words came ringing in my ears, if it sounds to good to be true it probably is, so at that point i declined.
I even went a step further and called that Monday just to verify they cancelled me. That i was not interested. Nothing was ever debited from my acct at this point. Which was in May.
Aug 2 i went to the bank to withdraw my husbands SSDI check and was shocked to see it was not all there. Upon inquiry i found i had been debited by Premium mega saver. I called them several times before i finally got ahold of someone. I was treated poorly, was told i had to have authorized this or they wouldnt have taken the money. I told them i did not and wanted my money back, they said they needed to review the tapes. Well meedless to say according to the tapes i authorized this, I asked to hear those tapes as well and was told i was unable to.
In the meantime i recieved a letter from The Hartford auto club, telling me they were gonna withdraw my premium of 99$. I called them immediately and told them i did not want or authorize this. (i didnt even own a car) To this date they have never tried to debit my acct. However i took the appropriate steps and cancelled my acct. I also filed a fraud complaint with my bank, and a claim with the BBB of Florida.
I would just like to add that my banks only defense to this was that they assume that since someone has your info, you must have given it to them. Pretty sad Huh?
