International Association Of Investors - Don Burnham
False promises, Scams, Bait & Switch

Don Burnham was (and still might be) a speaker at The Learning Annex Real Estate and Wealth Expo that I attended. He puts on a great presentation giving the audience the impression that if they "invest" $995 they will get access to his live 3 day seminar with the expectation that they will have access to all of his investment opportunities and be a lifetime member of his investment club. He tells you that investment deals will be thrown in your lap and that you will have great opportunities.

It looked like a fantastic program. So I attended the 3 day work shop. There must have been 400 people there. You do the math (400x$995). The information given there was very basic but if you had no insight about certain types of real estate investments it may have been insightful. You could have learned more for about $900 less at Barnes & Nobel.

On the second day, he told us that he will be presenting us with a great deal on the third day, which is the last day of the seminar. Now comes the third day. Run for the hills!!! If you want to get the opportunity to invest in the project that he is offering you must enroll in his Wealth Institute. The Wealth Institute costs $4,995 and goes all the way up to $49,995 depending on which plan you choose. He leads you to believe that the more you spend the more investment properties you will purchase. If you invest the minimum you will probably obtain 2 properties the first year. If you invest the maximum, you might have 15 properties the first year. Anyone want to buy a bridge? He encourages people that if they do not have the money for the Wealth Institute to try to come up with it some way so that they can get the deeply discounted price he was offering that day.

If you didn't "invest" in the Wealth Institute, you are still a lifetime member of IAI but the chance of getting any good deals are slim and none (he actually tells you that) since all of the good opportunities go to those who invested in the Wealth Institute.By the time anything filters down to the member that only paid $995 there are probably no good investments left.

I must applaud the Learning Annex. When I gave them the above information they immediately resolved my problem. I do believe that they are a reputable company trying to put on productive expos. It is their policy that if other costs are involved after an initial investment a speaker must disclose that fact. I guess Don Burnham must have "forgotten" that policy.

If you want to learn about real estate investments, join your local real estate investment club for probably less than $300 for the year.
