In December I opened a glass tinting business with twin brothers, Robert & Bryan Conley. At the time, we all signed a contract acknowledging the 3-3-3 split partnership. The business set up with myself overseeing the physical location and working on the cars, Robert Conley taking care of sales, and Bryan Conley completing flat glass (homes, buildings). We were all supposed to take equal responsibility for the running of the business, paperwork, etc. We would switch out weekends working at the location.
In pretty short order, it became obvious I was being used. I became responsible for all the paperwork, weekends, advertising, marketing, banking, as well as fulfilling my own automotive work. I was working 70 hours a week while "the brothers" worked only the bare minimum. They never came to the location to help with anything even if they were not on a job. They withdrew money from bank accounts for personal reasons whenever they pleased. It was a total nightmare. It seems pertinent to add we were all making roughly $1000 a week.
Around the same time I recieved a phone call from Bryan's wife. She was in hysterics because she had caught Bryan smoking crack in their home. She wanted to inform me that "they were all smoking crack"! I immediatly phoned their mother, who confirmed that this was happening. I also found out that Robert Conley was a convicted felon and did two years in prison for dealing cocaine.
Shortly after, I really began pushing for legal partnership papers to be drawn up and signed. It was imperative because I was the only partner who had any credit standing and "the brothers" were getting busy running up my credit cards for personal expenses, cars rentals for out of town trips, hotels etc. It seemed as if it there was always something else.
To make a long story short, this continued for 3 years. The Conley brothers did everything they possibly could to keep me from having any legal standing within the corporation, as well as signing any number of outrageous contractual agreements for service, advertising, etc. They verbally abused me on many occasions, the worst of which after I refused to add them to my credit card accounts. Their father stole the key to my shop and robbed me of around $2500, after I went home one night. The next night I was waiting inside the shop with my gun when he came in, thus catching him red handed.
In May, I payed for 2 trade shows totalling $5000, fixed Robert's vehicle for $1000 and payed for Bryan's son's dental visit all on my credit cards. The day after the last trade show they cleaned out the bank accounts, leaving $95 and about $10,000 worth of debt, outstanding contracts, etc. And disappeared. They also stole our website, which cost about $5000 leaving me with an unimaginable situation. Last I heard they were working out of a PO Box, apparently off the revenue from the trade shows I payed for. I was almost evicted from my location because they cleaned out the accounts May 31st leaving nothing to pay the rent. I should also note that I am the single working mom of two little girls, one of which is Robert Conley's 8 year old daughter. If these twins would do this to their own flesh & blood, who knows what they are capable of. Beware. I have never come across a more unscrupulous, immoral people. Ever.
