The Grant Mentor
Fraudulent/non-refundable charges, non-exsistant bribes, rude and lying representatives

This whole load of financial problems started not even three months ago. I thought it would be a very simple process, you know, getting some useful information on how to go about applying for grants. I am only 18 years old and do not have funding from my parents to go to college, so that is why I chose The Grant Mentor. What a mistake. I'm so infuriated, I'm ready to file for fraud the moment this next pending charge goes through on my card.

I'll start by telling you the overall damage.in the past two (or possibly less) months, I've been charged a small shipping and handling fee, two unauthorized transactions for 69.42 USD, and the two overdraft fees for the unexpected transactions that come to 38.00 USD each. Around TWO HUNDRED dollars for a tiny, useless booklet and a ton of frustration.

First off, I did not even receive my materials on time. When I called within the given period of time to cancel, I was told that I'd exceeded that period and could not get a refund. The woman I spoke to decided to tell me, "You should have payed more attention to our terms." Terms? From what I can see, they change whenever it suits the company!

Second, when I told the lady to cancel my account, she started talking about some sort of 1000 gift certificate, which of course sounded fake. If you can't refund 70 dollars, how can you give me a 1000 gift certificate? Without telling me anything about the gift certificate or that she was going to sign me up for an extra month of service to receive it, she signed me up after telling me specifically that my account was canceled and would no longer be billed. I thought I was finished. I wasn't.

Just yesterday morning I saw a negative balance in my account, which I called and verified was from The Grant Mentor withdrawing yet ANOTHER 70 dollars from my account. Why? I canceled! So again, I call, and I deal with another rude woman. She again tells me that my account is canceled, this time gives me a code to confirm that it is canceled, and then hitting me with the "you signed up for another month of service to receive a gift certificate, so this is non-refundable."

After arguing about it for a good while, she blew me off and gave me the code for the gift certificate, which really only turned out to be a "discounted price" certificate for a very shoddily put together website.

Why do you keep taking money from me? I'm just a young girl, trying to save up for college. The 200 dollars I spent (or rather, IT WAS SPENT FOR ME!) trying to get help with my education could have been spent ON my education.

I've called my bank. I've called The Grant Mentor many times and asked to speak to a supervisor who appears to be non-existant.

If something isn't done about this immediately, I am filing for fraud.
