ITT ripped us off big time! My Husband started at ITT in June. (I, his wife, am writing this on his behalf, since he is currently on Active duty.) It wasn't until we moved to Utah in August before we started having problems. First, he called them to tell them he needed to be transferred from the campus in Nashville, TN, to the campus in Murray, UT. They sounded like they had no clue as to what we were talking about. He told them that he just needed his information transferred to the UT campus because we were moving. The lady told him it was all taken care of. So we get to Utah and he calls to make sure everything is set. They had no clue who my husband was or what was going on. They said they hadn't heard anything from the TN campus. He called the TN campus, and again they had no idea what he was talking about. It took him two seperate times after that (And he was the one who had to do it because no one at ITT ever calls you back) to finally get everything transferred, and even after he started in Utah, he was getting calls from his teachers in TN saying that they missed him in class, and if he missed anymore he'd be dropped. We got a letter from Sallie Mae telling us that we'd have to start repaying his loans in six months. It was a mess, but we finally got it straightened out a month after he'd been going to class in UT. Well, we had to transfer him back to TN almost a year later when we moved back. It was the same thing. They had no clue what they were doing, it took a bunch of phone calls, and even after he had been transferred, he got the same phone calls from the campus in UT about missing classes.
He was enrolled in a class called "Composition 1", and he was failing. I told him to go to his teacher, and ask her about maybe tutoring, or some kind of help that he might be able to have, or maybe some extra homework or extra credit, something to help him maybe pass the class. He told me that she told him that he might as well just quit now, and start again next year. She apparently told him that there wasn't anything she nor he could do. He asked her about any kind of help, and she was unwilling to help him. So he quit school and decided to join the Air Force in September. He told everyone that he was quitting school, (The financial aid people and the records people) and they told him that everything was taken care of, and he was good to go. They also told him that he owed a balance at that time. He asked for what and how much, and they were unable to give him an answer. A couple days later they told him that it was taken care of, and he actually didn't owe them anything. He again got calls from teachers about missed classes.
In March of he called them because he needed his transcripts released to the Air Force. They told him that they were unable to do that because he owed a balance. He told them he needed to know for what and how much, even though they had told him six months ago that it was taken care of. They were again unable to give him an answer. They kept telling him they'd call him back, but they never did. Finally they found out that they had over-refunded some of his loan, but the guy said it had been taken care of, and we didn't need to worry about it, and they finally released his transcripts.
About a week ago, my husband got a call from a collection agency, telling him that we owed them $1800 from ITT tech, and if we didn't pay them or set up payments, they would garnish our wages. My husband called ITT tech who insisted that the balance was taken care of, and we didn't owe them anything, and even faxed us documents stating so. They told us that they would call the collection agency and take care of it. Well, a couple days ago, I got another call from the collection agency, telling me that it hasn't been resolved yet. I called ITT, who insists that it has been resolved and told me that they would fax the papers to them, and a copy to me as well. (I never recieved my copies, but I was hoping that maybe they just forgot mine.) The next day I called the collection agency to see if they had heard anything from ITT. They hadn't. (No suprise) But they told me to wait one more day in case ITT got held up in something, so I did. The next day I called them again and asked if they had recieved anything. Still no. So I called ITT, this time talking to another person, who told me that she would email them immediately, and fax me a copy of the documents so that I could get them out myself. Well, it finally worked. The collection agency finally got the documents they needed to stop harrassing me, and the case was closed.
I asked them if this would show up on my credit, and the lady at the collection agency told me that it did. I asked her who to contact about getting it removed, and she told me to contact the school. So I did, but no one was there, so I left a message. (Which was pointless, because no one EVER gets back to you anyway.) The next day, I called ITT again to see about getting it removed. The lady I talked to told me that actually the collection agency had to remove it. I told her that they told me that she was the one who had to do it. She told me that that was wrong. So I called the collection agency, who told me once again, that the school had to remove it. So I called ITT once again, and told them. She insisted that that was wrong, but promised me she'd look into it, and get back to me. I have yet to hear back from her.
ITT was a waste of time and money. We owe them $28,000 for one year, even after the pell grant, and all we got was NOTHING. It's worthless. My husband didn't even learn anything, and couldn't find a decent job even after he got out of school. He told me that most of the time they just read out of the text books, or went through wizards in class, if they weren't playing around. I would never recommend ITT to anyone, even if I hated them. It's lousy, their customer service was terrible, I am appalled at how they treated my husband and I. It was the worst mistake either of us have ever made in our entire lives. I'm sick and tired of dealing with these incompatent people who don't know how to do their jobs, and tell you that they'll get back to you, but never do, or tell you that everything is taken care of, when it isn't. I WANT A REFUND! We are unsatisfied customers, and I just want ITT out of our lives, even if it means to take back that year of "education" my husband recieved. They don't want to teach their students, they don't even care about their students. All they care about is the money. What a pitiful, worthless, piece of crap school.
