Ripoff ITT Tech is not worth the 30 thousand dollars for what you get

Well to start off the first problem with ITT Tech is the cost of the education which for me was a $32,000 Associate degree which I could have got at a community college for about 1/4 of that.

(if you are wondering yes I did graduate)

I read in another post where a person calling themselves Doug said in his own words that he "Did the math" and believes that ITT Tech is only slightly more expensive then a Community Colege which is totally false because I am in debt $30,000 when my wife went to a Competitive University almost has a bachelor degree and is only $20,000 in debt even after putting dorm room expenses, books, parking costs, tuition and everything else you can think of into that while I myself had to pay for allot of those things out of pocket because as you should already know ITT Tech doesnt have dorm rooms.

So why go with Community Colleges? With a Community College Education you can go to school for allot longer and get more education for the same amount of money and today when I look up my local Community Colleges I find that with that $32,000 I spent at ITT Tech I could have gone to school for about 6-8 years.

Contrary to popular belief an Associate degree in the IT field (which in most cases is all that ITT has to offer) is not enough to get a $15/hr. Job if you do a job search at monster.com for example all the good paying jobs require three things and that is a bachelor degree, somewhere between 2-4 years of good experience and excellent references.in fact allot of the good internships such as the Google internships "require" a bachelor degree just for consideration, they wont even talk to you without one.

Other personal problems I have had included not having a functioning toolkit when I started the CEET course and when I brought this up to some of my instructors not only did they not do anything about it but they simpley assumed I was slow or lezy where one even had the gaul to tell me that I need to work harder to get my labs done because when you get to a real job they are going to expect you to get jobs done based on a deadline all this despite the fact that I was getting almost perfect scores in the math/written portion of the school work, was able to accurately describe in detail what was going on in the circuits and of course the fact that nobody and I do mean nobody from the instructors to fellow students could get anything in my school provided CEET toolkit to work (I sometimes wonder what was wrong, perhaps the bread board?) so as a last ditch effort I switched courses from CEET to CNS just to save my rear end because I was getting D - grades due to incompleted labs.

Another problem I had was having instructors that did not know what they were doing.in one class that was a nightmare scenario I had we learned almost nothing at all because the instructor did not know anything about setting up an ISA server so we spent from the first week to the last week trying to get it to work with the instructor working allong side us and then in the end at the last week he just says hes sorry because he doesnt know how to get it work and just gives us all an A or B based on how hard he felt we tried.

Ok so after all that there were a few good things that I took note of because its only fair not to just list the bad.

First is that there is a really cool virtual library that ITT Tech has that has countless books in things from old greek stories to A certification for endless amounts of self educational oppertunities that is available nowhere else and best of all since I graduated my account to the library is never deleted.

Second small class sizes which makes it allot easier to get help on something (however at the latter half of my course they were having problems maintaining this and as a result I had to start taking classes with 30 students a class just like any other college).

Third is that the staff that worked in the offices were excellent I had to do almost no work to get my loans through, looking for work was allot easier because job packets were updated regularly with information I could not have found on my own and even today if I am trying to find a job I can ask them for help.

However after everything is said and done I have to say that ITT Tech is just not worth it because it just boils down to the fact that it cost way to much, the education quality is not as good as it should be and the IT field is a very competitive field to get into that requires allot of education and experience that ITT Tech is just not capable of handling, however the same arguement is not true for the other programs such as CEET and Criminal Justice where entry level jobs and internships are much more plentiful.

When my wife graduates in 9 months I am going back to college but this time to a Community College where I will choose a course in something that has jobs for it that are in demand where I dont have to move to Mars and I dont have to compete with a stack of resumes 8 inches thick.

However I dont feel that my time at ITT Tech was a waste of time either as education is always usefull in some way shape or form and someone with a degree in CNS from ITT and a degree in Electrical Enginerring from Booniville USA Community College is still allot more competitive and employable then someone with just the latter.
