My son worked in a field where he made 35-45,000.00 because he worked his way up to management. Then my son was scammed to attend ITT Technical Institute and graduated with honors. With a debt of 40,000.00 plus He moved to Arizona to start a new career. After a long time of disappointing interviews and zero help from ITT Tech my son decided that the degree was useless without a bachelors degree. To our horror and dismay the majority of credits were not honored by any state college to earn a bachelors degree. Working in the old field he began in (management) he is now earning $35,000.00 per year while trying to swim out of debt and decide if it would be better to just suck it up and start all over on a degree with a state college. Financially he cannot afford it though. Not only did he work his butt of for two years but paid out the rear for a degree that's useless. How can he begin again in debt like that? I know that people say a degree is what you make of it, however, if it is not transferable to another college how can he further his education without starting all over again? Why in the world would he consider getting a bachelor at ITT Tech when the associates degree was as useless as the paper it was written on. My son did attend state colleges before attending ITT and he wasn't a flunk out. He was an A/B student. However, the fast sales pitch and the promise of being able to work and go to school at the same time and have his associates degree in two years was very tempting. After two terrible years of working his rear off and 40,000 plus debt, my son is where he started. I know that it isn't his lack of trying because without the useless associates he made 45,000.00 in a different state in management. People practically laugh at him at colleges because the credits aren't transferable. I think the best thing to hit these for profit colleges is to start a class action suit to get these students money back so that they can go to a state college and get a real degree.
