Avon ripoff for most reps, poorly run, bad communication, rude collections

Ok so after reading several other usacomplaints.com i thought i'd add my own 2 cents. I know there are several people out there who have claimed to make money with the company and have had small to no problems. Thats awsome, glad to hear that you are having a good experience, but as so many of you keep saying avon has a very large number of reps and i'm pretty certain it's all up to local management as to how well a lot of matters are handeled.in my opinon, this does not take the blame off of avon. A company should find a way to manage itself well no matter how big. Complaints should actually behandeled in a proper business matter.
I started with avon back in i saw that it was only a $10.00 startup and thought it would be a great way to make a couple extra dollars, and mostly i thought the discount would be a good way do some b-days and christmas presents. Plus get my own makeup at a discount. I only wanted to make about $100.00 extra a month at that point. I called and set up an app. To get started, the first thing i thought was odd was at that very meeting.

The woman i met was very nice and easy to talk with and was telling me all about how she supported herself and her elderly mom on what she made from avon, while filling out forms she was telling me how i should come by her office and place my first order from there so she could helpif need be, she started looking through her planner for a time on the order date that was good, then absenmindly mentioned something about having alot of apps that day for people looking at real estate, i said real estate? She oh, i own several properties that i rent and sell. Thought that was funny since she had already told me avon was her only job and it supported her and her elderly mom.

I made a few customers in the area and made almost $200.in sales that 1st campain wich i thought was pretty good. I got the order delivered the shipments and new books and during a delivery had a woman approach me for a book and a # she could reach me at to sign up as a rep.! I thought that was great because avon was offering a bonus if you signed up 5 people by such and such a date. I went home immediatly called my superior. Her tone was not so nice this time, i excitedly told her i was about to get my first recruit and she stops me cold saying: do u know anythig about this woman? Where she comes from (i couldn't believe that one), what shes like? I said no but i didn't think those things mattered, i mean i had just called a number online, no one knew anything about me." ok, well we will both set up an app. Somewhere with this woman, u don't know enough about the business yet to sign up a recruit yourself.

This sounded wrong why should she get a person i found in her downline? I decided right then not to argue and to just handle this on my own. Next she says oh i have been trying call u anywaz for a few days (i have caller id, no she hadn't) i have your campaign 3 books, i said u couldn't i just handed those out, she said no, when u order books from avon u are ordering a campaign ahead and u started on campaign 2, so u ordered campaign 4 books, i said i already handed the c4 books out, she told me not to worry that i would still be able to order, wrong. I will not even tell u all the time i spent explaining and apologizing to customers.

After that i wrote avon an email telling them all, i had a GM call me and apologize and tell me to give her a call if i had any more problems. A long distance call though. I did have many more problems constant out of stock problems, sometimes they would charge me for things i didn't get ect. Once my account was suspended for non-payment, after talking to a few rude people i sent them a fax showing a bank satement of my online billpay to them, they turned my account back on and then tried to blam it on my bank!?

The final straw was when i placed a large order and most of it was duplicated. I got 2 of all the most exspensive items and was shorted a few of the others i called, they credited the missing items, i went though the returns process and it was estimated i had $120.00 in returns (all items unopened), i by the time fees were done being processed i was credited 30.00, when i called about this they said that all fees were valid ect. All these items were new and unused, and it was avons fault for duplicating my order, they said regardless of whos fault it was i had received all the credit i was going to get.

I stopped ordering after that and payed off everthing but $19.50. Honestly it had slipped my mind within about a month i received a letter from a collection agency demanding i pay them the $19.50 immediatly or terrible things would happen. Most places at this point would atleast have the curtously of sending u a reminder/warning before selling your debt off to a collection aganecy. I called avon immediatly (as i do not respond to threats i was not going to call the collection agency yet) i talked to a nice lady and told her i would be getting my paycheck in a week and a half and would gladly cut them a check, that bills had been tight that week and i didn't have an extra $20.00 in my account. She said no problem and that they would do somthing about the rude collection notices.

Wrong. I got at least one of these letters everyday for the next week (one day i got 2 of them). I did pay them when i said i would, and continued getting the notices everyday. I finally called avon and told them to fix it or i was going to sue them for harrasment. The letters finally stopped. I guess i didn't get the phone calls everyone else did cause i use my trusty callerid and never answer calls from unknown #'s.

Well that is my avon horror story good luck to all of you still with this company!
