I was about to enter my flat when a car pulled in next to me and the driver asked me if I spoke "a little Italian". He then pulled to the side of the road and proceeded to tell me that he was a salesman from Milano for Amani products and that he wanted to give me a gift in return for some help. (I still don't believe that I was sucked in!!!).
He was REALLY convincing and said that he wanted to give me some jackets as he had lost a lot of money gambling and was on the way to the Heathrow and did not have enough cash for his rental car and that he had reached the credit limit on his cards. He said he would give me 3 jackets if I bought a suit from for half the retail price (350). I said I did not need the suit.
At this point he became quite distressed and said he needed money to pay for the rental car as he was on his way to the airport and did not want to miss his flight. He then offered me a box of four business shirts with 2 silk ties and 2 belts. He said he would also give these if I bought the suit from him.
Obviously I'm a real sucker as I eventually gave him 200 in return for the 3 jackets, 4 shirts, 2 ties and 2 belts. He said his name was Mussimo and headed off as soon as I paid him. He was definetly Italian with dark hair, average build, about 5ft. 9 ins.
Having read through these rip-off files I don't feel so bad as I'M NOT THE ONLY SUCKKER CAUGHT BY THIS SCAM.
