Someone named Jasper Torrell called me several times on Monday and left a message that he was calling to approve a loan for a computer, he said that he was from Gateway. Since I never ordered a computer, I called him back and explained this. He told me that on the previous day, that someone had ordered a computer for me and then he told me my name, address, phone number, and social security number! He asked me after each piece of information if they were correct and each time, I said yes. After, I realized he was taping me saying yes so he could approve me for some sort of loan. Immediately, after the phone call, I found the number for Gateway and asked them if an order ever existed. Turns out that they had no record of me ordering anything and that the 2 numbers the fake gateway gave me were not real either.
I have read other complaints from your members regarding buying computers with an inflated interest rate through this same company. But what they don't realize, is that this company is fraudulent!!! Gateway 2000 is not the same as Gateway. The idiots even sent me a follow up email. It looked just like gateway's web site and even had some of their customer service phone numbers on it.
I filed a report with my local police and am still following up on this with the real Gateway. I am just hoping that these people don't use my info to take out a loan or credit card.
