Don't get ripped off like we did. Or rather my husband did. A couple of day's ago someone called hinting that they were with the IRS and that since we had paid our taxes on time we qualified to receive $5000.00 and there was a small transaction fee of $10.95. I can't believe he gave out our information, but he did. They said the money would be in our account in two day's.
We were charged $49.95 and my hubby only said it was ok to take $10.95 out.
Well two day's later we get another call from them and I don't know what all was said (by this time I had told Erik it was a scam) but when the guy said they needed $229. More dollars Erik went through the roof. Told them to cancel it all etc.
He called the bank's 1-800 number right away, but they said they couldn't do anything about it since at that time we didn't know the name of the company and that we'd have to close our account. Unbeknownst to us either one of us can close the account even though it's a joint checking account but I didn't do that in time.
