I was called at home and given an offer of $12,500 for a one time bank fee that was only being charged through my bank, the rep Bob Phillips id# 0012 said that they were affiliated with the goverment and therefore were a nonproffit company. I gave them my account info like and idiot and then was kicked over to an automated service to review my info. During that time I heard the amount $299.00. I was waiting to tell the rep that no I did not want to do this at that kind of cost when he quickly came back on the line and said I was being sent to a 3rd party verification. Then I was hung up on.
I later told my husband that I was very nervous about this, we agreed to wait and see what the package was. Less than 2 wks. Later we recieved a one page "welcome letter" that said we had 7 days to review the info or we would be charged $299.00. I immediately called the number and ask for an explanation of the company. A female operator appologized and gave a different explanation of the program.
I told her that I did not want the money taken from my account. I repeated in no uncertain terms, NO! Do not take that money. She again apologized and said my membership was canceled. 7 days later I looked at my checking account to find that the $299.99 had been taken anyway. I called the company and was promised the refund in 7 days, I was even given a confirmation #. 7 days later I called again and was again promised a refund buy it would take another 7 days.
My 1st call with this company was more than 7 wks ago I have called this company 11 times since then and requested to speak to a supervisor. Conveniently they are always with another customer or in a meeting. I have lost $49.95, $299.99, and an additional $136.00 in insufficient funds from my bank due to this company. Not to mention the over 8 hours (actual hours, no exageration) I have spent on the phone with this co. Trying to get my money.
I am a young, educated person. I guess I was wrong to assume that these things never happen to people like me. Beware of this company. I doubt there are a lot of people who can afford to hand out almost $500 to a scam artist. I'm sorry if you are reading this to late! For any of you who haven't been scammed yet, these people sound like there nationality is India perhaps but they claim to be from America.
One rep did say, however that there call centers were located in the Phillipines.
Wish me luck with ever seeing my money again and good luck to any other gullable people like me.
