Four years ago my daughter was in a car accident. Though she and her dad decided not to inform me. I found out about it in spring of 05' when medical bills came up on my credit.
I called United Memorial hospital because I had never been to their hospital and definetly did not have and bills with them. They finally told me that it was a bill from my daughter. I replied that my ex-husband had custody and two full coverage insurances on her.
This is when the woman messed up. She stated that a new person in their department had not applied the bills to her insurance until 97 days. The insurance company refused to accept the bill.
I told her that was the hospitals responsibility then to eat those bills. I inquired as to how my soc # came up in all this. She said the collections company must have dug it up because she had no information on me at all. I asked her to send me a letter that they had applied the bills to late. She said that my ex would have to do so.
I asked him about it and he didnt care. He wasn't paying it. Note: he has a home and makes 120k a year. I make 9 - 10k a year and was trying to buy a home and can do nothing until I take care of this. Trying to contact money recovery nationwide is a nightmare. Said they can only deal with my ex.
I said then take this stuff off my report. It was stated that they would. All of the sudden it has been recently updated. Dropping my 600 score down to the upper 400s. Does anyone know any other way around this to get this taken care of. My ex doesnt care and the hospital and collection agency will give me no info. What do I do???
