My experience with these "greasy" people is as follows.
Back in March I was shopping the online university degree programs and submitted my name and phone number to be contacted. After talking at length with several of these establishments and doing some extra online research, I decided to put off my decision for at least another year.
However, I still receive just regular calls from AIU. These occur on a regular basis and each time it's a different telemarketer. Each time they start out with teh same script, "Hi, I am following up with you because you recently requested to be contacted". I would ask, How recent? They would reply, "Within the last week". Such baloney!
Each time I would have to explain that I have not requested any info since March and I would like to be removed from their call list. Apparently, they disregard my request for removal and just throw me back into the calling queue. Some of them are even rude to me and hang up when I request this. I recently filed a harassment complaint with the FTC's website.
These people are terrible. Their methods are "greasy" and from what I have read on this website I am glad I did not pursue doing business with them.
