If you are perusing the internet for an online degree, most likely snared by one of the many ads, don't even think about bothering with Walden University. There is little or no academic support, and for the last 5 weeks of a COUNSELING class, the professor remarked that she rather let students express themselves "without the intrusion of faculty." The cost of the "class" was $1600!!
Many times during the course, the professor's only response on the discussion board was to ask the question "What do you think about what you have written?" What kind of feeling might one have about embryonic development?!? When I called my advisor to complain, she said I would have to take it up with the Department Chair. Emails and calls went unreturned.
I finally resorted to teaching myself the material without any support, instruction, encouragment, correction, or otherwise. Even after I submitted my withdraw form (twice), I was still registered for classes for two weeks. Had I not looked into it, Walden would have charged me for the classes.
Like others, I had a terrible academic experience with this university. I've also heard (and read online) of the how difficult it is to find a job with a degree from this university, and then more often than not, employers will completely disregard your resume.
Do yourself a favor and find a university (steer clear of Phoenix University, too; check out the lawsuit against the university) that upholds academic integrity. Walden just wants your money.
