My Perfect Credit - First Credit Of America - Clear Credit
Based Out Of Chicago Credit Reporting Agencies, Credit Solutions, ripoff

I was scammed yesterday by First Credit of America. I have been recieving a message on my answering machine to "call 866-505-2632 about my account. It is urgent that you call." So I tried calling it back last week not knowing what "account" they were talking about. I knew that I had no past debts. When I did call back however, I recieved a voice message and so I left a message to have them return my call.

No person ever returned my call but I kept recieving the message to call 866-505-2632. Yesterday I answered the number 866-803-5456 and there was a delay and then someone said "Hello." This woman was telling me that she was from First Credit of America and they are based out of Chicago when I kept questioning who she was. She told me that I had an outstanding balance of $124.00 with either My Perfect Credit dot com or Clear Credit dot com. This balance was supposed to be from January 17th.

I told her that I have no balance and I do not recall going to the website in January. I know at one point that I signed up for the free trial but nothing happened so I cancelled it. She said let me reconfirm that I have the right person. She told me my full name, address, and social security number.

This started to make me think that maybe I did click on something and they didn't cancel out my account. But I still felt that this was all wrong. She said that she had the authority to take 50% off the price and I would only have to pay $62.13 instead plus a $5.00 processing fee.

I was so skeptical and I kept asking her who she was and what company she worked for. I still told her no that I should not have to pay this so I was not going to. She threatened me with having an negative impact on my credit report. I have been working hard to improve my credit so I did not want to have another mark on it. A little aprehensive, I finally agreed to give her my debit card number. (Very stupid move) She took down the number, the expiration date, and the 3 didgit code on the back.

I was still infuriated and I told her that this is BULL and that I should not have to pay them this money and that I was going to report them (myperfectcredit.com) to the BBB. She told me then if I had any questions to call 866-505-2632 and speak with Laurie Helfer. That is when it clicked that this is the same place that has been calling me for the past two weeks. So I told her when I called back that I got a voice mail and left a message but no one called me back. She seemed a little suprised.

Once I got off the phone I called my husband and told him what had just happened and that I could not take back my debit card number now. I told him I had a funny feeling about it. He looked up the name of First Credit of America and found another complaint on this website. He called me right away and had me check it out. I was so mad.

I immediately called my bank and cancelled my debit card and ordered a new one. This was all within an hour. I reported them to my bank's prevention officer and emailed everyone in my address book about them and to beware. They are obviously professional scam artists and are scamming alot of people.

If you have a funny feeling about someone you should believe that instinct. Never give personal info over the phone even if they already have most your info. Anyone can gain access of your personal information. That does not mean that they are legit.
