It's an auto insurance policy. I was injured in an auto accident in 2000 by a Safeco Insurance holder. I was rear ended by a commercial truck. I was out of work for a year and had almost 9 months of physical therapy, in addition to 2 painful hospital procedures to attempt to correct pain in my neck. My insurance company, State Farm paid up to my limit in medical bills of $25,000 and paid to have my bumper fixed on my car.
Safeco did not offer to pay for any of this, even though their driver had been the one who hit me. I was forced to sue Safeco and even though Safeco could not pony up the money that was outstanding for my last hospital procedure, they had money to spend on expert witnesses, Judson Welcher, who is an Accident Reconstruction Expert and a Doctor from Cedar's Sinai who doesn't practice medicine, but instead testifies full time for insurance companies. Judson Welcher lied in my trial and told the jury how I couldn't possibly be injured based on the way I was hit and the Doctor told the jury I was not injured, even though he had the same X-Rays that I had been treated for the nine months I was being treated.
Safeco hired the most unpleasant Lawyer, Roberta Weiner, who had been named appropriately. She told the jury that I injured myself by lifting a suitcase on my last vacation. These people are professionals at tricking juries. I lost my case and now owe the man who hit me for jury fees and court costs, which total almost $19,000. Safeco has not paid a dime toward my rehabilitation or damage to my car.
I basically lost my career in the year I was out of work and in the year that I was in physical therapy, I studied for the California Real Estate Boards and in interviewing with a real estate firm that I would like to join, I found out that Safeco is the company that holds the E & O policy that I would be expected to pay $1500 per year to.
It's ironic that I would find myself owing Safeco money again.in my past career, I was an Advertising Commercial Producer and am shopping my story around to the magazine shows, hoping to change this system. If you want my honest opinion, I've been very dissatisfied from the start. Because of this, I'll definitely find another insurance carrier when my policy expires. Will I recommend your firm to people I know? No way!
Here's what I would like SAFECO Corporation to do about this: I would like Safeco Insurance to make this right for me. I would like one of your Attorneys to negotiate a settlement of the judgement I have against me so that I don't have to file bankrupcy. I would like you to pay the bills that you are responsible for.
