My husband and I were looking to purchase (2) miniature bull terriers in hopes to send them to championships and later breed them. After hours of searching the net, we came upon an ad at terrificpets.com. The ad was advertised by Tony May in Brooklyn, New York, selling amazingly beautiful puppies at $1800 each. We were ecstatic and immediately called to inquire.
We conveyed to both Tony and his wife Dawn May exactly what we were looking for. (2) miniature bull terries, one white male, and one female fawn, both with AKC registration to insure that the puppies were purebred. After a course of 2-3 days of talking over the phone, exchanging emails and fax's Tony/Anton and Dawn decided on a price. $2200 each pup and $600 for shipping.
My husband and I sent out a $5000 check written in Dawn May's name. Unfortunately the puppies weren't AKC registered, as promised, but had already sent the cashier's check. 2 days after receiving the cashier's check we put a stop payment on the check and told Tony and Dawn of our intentions. We also told them that we wanted a full refund being that the puppies weren't AKC registered, they agreed to send the full refund and asked for all the information they'd need to send the money back.
We exchanged many emails thereafter but still have not received a dime. Remember the check was sent to them on the 18th of May. They received the check on the 20th of May. On June 10 my husband and I received a phone call from the bank manager saying that Dawn and Tony had cashed the check regardless at The Check Cashing Place in New York. Is there a Dawn May or Tony May, I have absolutely no idea. Is the address and business name legitimate, I have no idea.
