Promises of payment for last 6 months!
Gary Chan of Base Equity Investments stayed in on of my short term apartments while in London on business back in January after six months of repeated promises from several people in the company no payment has been forthcoming, with every email promising to do so. Here are just some examples of those emails:
Dear Suzie
I was just informed by Peter regarding this. I sincerely apologise. I have sufficient monies coming to me next week that I can draw and transfer to you, or alternatively arrange a cheque to be sent to you immediately.

Our apologies. We are still waiting for clearance of the international draft. Once done, we will immediately place into your account. It was a national holiday yesterday from the originating bankers in China, and Monday a bank holiday in the UK. There had been no communication between the two.

Mr. Chan has been in contact with us and for me to expect your call. I am currently in Eastern Europe and can only directly receive messages. I apologise.
Regarding the outstanding amounts, I had initiated on Mr. Chan's behalf the transfer of payment directly from HSBC Private (Middlesex). However, it seems that you are not yet in receipt of such payment.in this event, I have requested from my secretary to arrange the direct deposit of funds to your account. Please, re-advise your account number so that we can be sure that it is correct.

I had understood that they communicated with you. They have prepared the payment in the form of a bank draft to send to your address or if you prefer to pick up from Richmond. I will get on to this. A judgement would be a serious problem for me.

The company is in action today on this matter. Again, if they cannot produce the transfer slip to you, I will settle (only that I have to give my transfer instruction from overseas, and this would take a few days as well).

Thanks Suzie. Me too. It's awful with it hanging over my head. The office has been used to the usual Swiss system, where they settle invoices in around 30 days or so, but they do end up doing it.
