I just received a credit card bill with a $96.00 charge on 2/18/05 for "simple escapes". It listed the phone number. First I checked online to see if maybe I had made a purchase that I didn't recall. When half my google results were complaints about fraudulent billing from this company, the alarm bells went off.
I called my credit card and they said to contact the company first - that they had dealt with them before and if you pushed for it you would usually get your money back.
So I called. And I did have to push for it. Supposedly $68 should be credited in 2 days. When I insisted I wanted ALL of it, the rep said he'd file a request. It took several questions and insistence on my part for him to give me a commital answer - the rest should be credited by the end of the week.
We will see.
