I am so glad to find this website. I have had problems for the past year trying to reach someone from this company! I also took the class in late 2003 and spent over $900 for the class! I mailed my final project 2nd Day Air in January and never received my project back nor did I receive my certification. I know it was received by someone at the address because I tracked the package and it was in fact signed for.
All along I thought this company was legit - after all I was handing in my tests and receiving those back and I also received my certificate of completion of the course. However, I never received my project back or my actual certification.
I knew something wasn't right when I found out they had changed addresses and never informed the students. But I do find it ironic how they so eagerly took $75 twice for extention deadlines for my final project. I have unsuccessfully called every number for this company since last January. Contacted everyone through email. I even spoke to a Beverly Clark representative last March (they were supposedly affiliated with them). A woman I spoke with there didn't know what was going on and gave me Tricia Thomas's cell phone number (president of Wedding Careers Institute).
I did not receive any responses. I guess I gave up back in April. The company's website was down sometime over the summer when I checked and as of then there weren't any reports on the BBB. It still irritates me to this day that I am out $900 and have no certificate to prove I took the course nor do I have my project to show future clients (which I worked so hard on). Tricia Thomas and her so called corporation are a disgrace to this industry! I hope she is never allowed to work in the industry again. I feel sorry for not only myself but all of the other students out there as well. We were all fooled. I am not naive, I did my research before signing up for this. It's really ashame. I don't even know the next step to take. I would like my certificate or my money back. But I'm sure neither will happen.
