WOW, I wish I had known 4 years ago when I first applied for a loan through Sallie Mae all the trouble it would give me! I've had to apply two times already for a deferment on one loan in particular which I can't pay off right now. For whatever reason, Sallie Mae keeps making me pay off this particular loan even though I'm still in school and will be for the next year. When I called them a week ago because they said one of my payments was past due, the man said my 6 month grace period was up even though I had been in school and was a part-time student! Now that meant from between June-August I had to start paying back on my loan even though I would start back school in late August when all my loans would be on deferment again. Well, how can I do that when I don't have the money to be paying back on a loan right now that I planned on paying on AFTER I graduated college?! I asked the man how logical that sounded, for me to have to pay on a loan while I'm on summer break when all my loans are SUPPOSED to be on deferment and WILL BE in 2 months again when I start school. He said, "Yeah, that doesn't make any sense either" WELL YEAH! Both my older brother and I have had loans through Sallie Mae and let me tell you, once I get into my field I will work as hard as I can to pay off these loans because I never want to hear of them again. They are so rude as to call me up to 4 times a day just to remind me my loan is past due. They will call me once in the morning, afternoon, and at night if not more! I consider that a harassment!
