Metro Brokers Home was not up to code

Ryan met myself and a friend at one of the properties they had listed in Denver. My friend and myself immediately noticed a very bad smell in the home (one of waste, moisture and mold). There was trash under the crawl space (food and other waste) and lots of it, I'd say about 4-6 months worth. The yard, trees and shrubbary were over grown.inside the home was in horrible shape especially for a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom listing at $1400/month. When we inquired about the obvious problems with the home, including broken latches on doors, the rotting wood under the kitchen sink, trash under the home, warped ceiling from rain damage, and the potential repairs, Ryan said he did not see a need for any repairs and that there were "plenty of other people happy to rent this place". At that point, he promptly ended our tour and "pushed" us out of the home. I found out from calling the Code Inspection office that this home had been a complaint on several occasions. After several unreturned phone calls, I finally received an E-mail from Ryan explaining they would not rent to me. I was finally able to speak to Ryan in person to get my application fee returned (per thier policy), he advised me that they had chosen against renting to me because I did not have a dual income and they chose to go with a family instead.

Ryan never returned my application fee, even though it was never processed (I have confirmation from all 3 Credit Bureaus and chose to openly discriminate against myself my using the reasoning of "no dual income" AKA: single.

I am glad that I was not allowed to rent from this company and chalked it up as a lesson learned. However, I do think that others should be aware of the Kimmel and Company, Metro Brokers viewpoint and policy of managing home (s) that are unlivable for humans (or pets for that matter) and discriminating against the "non-dual incomed" individuals.
