Tom Jones is a builder currently doing business in the west Austin area off of Bee Caves Road. He is building in an area known as The Bluffs at Eanes Creek (Lake Hills section 2). We purchased a lot from Mr. Jones March with the intent to have him build us a new custom home. He represented himself to be a first class, financially solvent reputable builder.
In addition, he claimed in his marketing materials that he would have complete control over this development. And that he would be the only builder and would have complete architectural control over all houses to be built. Over the past year we have watched as Mr. Jones has sold off many lots to other builders and realtors in violation of his own contract that we had with him. Approx. 4 other builders are now active in this development and several realtors have individual lots for sale. Again, in direct violation of his contracts.
We have also met six homeowners during this past year that own homes built by Mr. Jones. All of them spoke of the nightmare of doing business with him and of the horrific building process that he put them through. Some owners had houses several years old that were still dealing with faulty construction, inept repair people sent over by Mr. Jones and a general feeling of dispair in dealing with him.
Of the new homes built in the past year by Mr. Jones ALL of the owners speak of the terrible experince they had. These homeowners are very unhappy with Mr. Jones and his entire building process. My wife and I asked Mr. Jones to release us from our obligation to have him build on our lot. We presented to him the prior mentioned as to why we did not feel comfortable entering into a 6 month building process with him. He never denied that what we stated was true. He admitted that many things had gone wrong in the past and that the development was a "nightmare". He still would not release us and he has forced us to sell the lot back to him.
Please BEWARE OF DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH TOM JONES HOMES IN AUSTIN TEXAS. Please check with the current owners in his development. Check with other area builders about his reputation. He can not be trusted and is motivated only by money. Thanks for taking the time to read this message.
