San Diego Rattan & Leather
Ripoff

I purchased leather from San Diego Rattan Leather in Sept 04 Keep in there warehouse until November March 22,04 I contacted the owner of the store. I noticed that the cushions were beginning to look and feel weird. Also it scatches very easily. She asked did I have the receipt. She needed the receipt. Faxed the receipt.

She told me the manufacture would be at her store in 3 weeks. I told her, I could not locate the recepit I would look for receipt. She said, she would send one of her driver over to look at the cushions. Driver verified something was wrong. Later she call me, asked could someone pick up one of the cushhions up. She said in three weeks the manufacture would be in town and he could look at the cushion. I told her I did not want to go three weeks without a cushion on my sofa. I told her my husband works near her store when the manufacture was about to arrive I could bring it to her store.

I received a call two weeks later from Ms Ho. She said she wanted her driver to pick up the sofa. This way the manufacture could look at the sofa.
Arrangements were made to have sofa picked up. 2 men came to my house to pick up furniture. They did not wrap my furniture. And tried to force it the the front door with the legs on the sofa. Not only did they pick up the sofa. They picked up the chair. We had no furniture in are living room. At that time she asked for the receipt again. She claimed she did not receive, and write a description of what I felt was wrong with the sofa, and give to driver

Approximately two weeks went by. I did not hear from Ms Ho. It was well past the time she said the manufacture would be in town. I called SD Rattan furniture on Sat. Mr Ho answered the phone. I asked could I speak to the owner. He said he was the owner. I told him I needed to speak to his wife, and began to describe my problem. He said she was not in at the time. Cut me off I said aren't you the owner, can't you help me. He said, she was not in I needed to speak to her. I told him he had bad customer service. We had words on the phone, and he hung up in my face. I called back on Monday and Tuesday. I was told she was not in until the afternoon. I left messages. Still no call. At last I got a call back from Ms Ho. She said she was waiting on the manufacture. I thought that was why she picked up my furniture. (Wow! That's a long time without furniture)

At last she called me with the results. The manufacture said nothing was wrong with my sofa. I said, can I have that in writing. She said no. I said can you have him call me? No. I said, why can't he call me? He can not call every customer. You can fax him. I told her I want something in writing guaranting what he said was true. She said no. She said, he said your furniture is in the sun. I said that is not true. The window is over the balcony. Also we keep the window closed because we are gone to work during the day. (Think about San Diego has not had real Sunny days) I said that was the color of the chair when we got it. (The back of the chair.) She said, he said it just need leather conditioner. Someone will be appling the conditioner to the chair and sofa. I said, can I exchange the furniture? She said, you don't even no if it will work. No you can not change furniture because you had it to long! I said I purchased it in Sept. It sat in your warehouse until Novemeber. (In the process of moving into our new home) March I complained. It took all this time for you to do something. You had it for Approximately 2 1/2 weeks. We both were very upset. She put me on hold and never picked up the phone.

I called my husband and told him I thought it was best he handled the situation with the furniture. He called the sales man. He told him, he wanted something in writing, and he wanted them to return the furniture. The furniture was returned. Nothing had changed. Actually worse. The scratches were darker from the conditioner that was applied to the sofa. It looked like someone sprayed something on the sofa and chair. You can see spray marks. It looks very aged.

My family has spent very little time on the sofa and chair. I put something over the sofa as soon as I notice the problem. I do not want to hide my furniture. I bought this furniture because I liked it. Now I don't think we will get the use out of the sofa/chair. We paid $1,800.00 That is a lot of money to me. We paid them in cash and on credit CARD. I want what I paid for.

I feel these people sold me some bad leather. I don't think they took care of the furniture when it was in there store, and that is why is feeling and looking very aged. I have had leather in my home for over 10 years, and I have never experienced anything like this.

I would appreciate any advise you can offer.

Thank you
