After having SDG&E inspect my wall heater before using it they determined it needed a new gasket to seal an exhaust pipe to prevent co2 from leaking out. Also it just needed dust and cobwebs cleaned out. Easy right? So we find a company that still services old wall heaters. Granted this is an old house and a old wall heater but its been maintained and functioning well for many years.
The repair man comes reaking of cigarette smoke and I give him the slip of paper that SDG&E gave me to give to him that states what needs to be repaired on the heater. He goes out to his vehicle for about 10-15 minutes comes back and tells me that the heater is not fixable and needs to be replaced which will cost $1300. Oh really? No way was that going to happen. I told him all the heater needed was a gasket and he said no its leaking co2 it needs to be replaced. Whatever I wasnt going to stand there are argue with him. I knew that by calling a repairman I might hear this so I just paid the 49.95 service fee and he went on his merry way. What a load of BS. Will not be using this service again. If I really needed a new heater maybe he should have actually opened it, inspected it and shown me why I needed a new heater. Which is why I think he was just lying and trying to make more money. Rip Off.
