I have recently built a Ryan Home. We paid $300,000 to build an Avalon. Our house was recently completed a few months ago and we have had numerous amounts of problems already!
After just five days of living in our new home, a wall cracks in half. Luckily it was the wall going in to the study and not a high lofted wall near the bedrooms.
About 2 weeks later, another ridiculous hazard occurs. The tray ceiling in our Dining Room collapses. This is ablsolutely crazy.
I called Ryan Homes about both of these problems and they were nice and paid full for both problems and they were fixed.
The next morning, the ceiling collapses again. Absolute Ridicule. I contact Ryan Homes again and they say that "Ceilings don't just collapse on their own" how terrible is that. I asked them to fix the problem and they argued with me until they finally agree to fix it and pay full again.
Three weeks later the water stops working. Hmmmm... I wonder how that happened. I call Ryan Homes for the fifth time and tell them the water isn't working. They say they will send over an inspector the next day to check it out. We spend the rest of the night at our neighbors, filling up big jugs of water. The Inspector comes the next evening and says there is no problem and that I should contact the water company.
I call the water company, and they send people over to look at it. They find that when digging the basement Ryan Homes Builders hit a water line in half. After a while of us being in the basement the line finally broke. I call Ryan Homes and complain to their manager working there that my house is from hell and that they couldn't have done anything worse, except what they did next. They hang up.
I love my home interior (without the voodoo) and want to keep it. So I call Ryan Homes a seventh time and tell them if they don't want to get sued then they better fix my problems. They agree and send inspectors and builders to fix all problems and anything else. They also found that the gas main was a few inches from being cut off and blown off (literally).
In The end Ryan Homes was actually very cooperative. I wouldn't suggest building their homes, but buying safe ones are the best oppertunities you can find. Thanks Ryan Homes for giving me a house from hell, but then perfecting it and making it oh so beautiful.
