Raypak Rheem
Worthless Warranty

I purchased a Porpoise pool heat pump from a repatable dealer in Florida. This particular model has a titanium heat exchanger which is supposedly resistant to cracking and water intrusion. This particular dealer has been utilized by Raypak Rheem for many years and they have said all his installations are professional. This same dealer who originally installed the heat pump disassembled it, moved it to my new house, and re-installed it. After a few months the heat exchanger breached (filled with water) which runis the entire piece of equipment.

Raypak Rheem purchased the rights to the Porpoise brand and took over warranties and all other aspects related to service. Their warranty states along with numerous other terms to screw consumers that if the heat pump is moved it voids the warranty. People move all the time and that's a good way for them to get out of not having to take care of their responsibilities. If the original owner moves and leaves the heat pump the new owner has no warranty. They also say if the heat exchanger breaches it voids the warranty. I'm sure this happens all the time and that shows you that they don't make quality products. Do you see a pattern here? Worthless warranty language & poor quality products = lose of market share over time.

I say if you are going to make something or represent it then you better be willing to back it up. If you have a choice in buying another heat pump I would just for the simple reason that the other companies back up their warranties and not hide behind language that inevitably makes them more money. Treating people like this will defintely catch up with them.
