I purchased a Kirby vaccum system from a home sales person on Jan. 20. The intial asking price was 2400 dollars, but after stating there was no way I could afford that expensive of a vaccum the price was dropped to what I was told their cost of 1395 dollars.
That evening I researched the Kirby machine I had purchased in consumer reports. Finding out through consumer reports the Kirby is best in reiablity, but only middle of the road in preformance, and extremely more expensive than any other system on the market I decided to return it.
The Kirby contract has a three day cancellation clause in it. On Jan 21 I returned the entire system to the address listed on the contract. This address was not the sales address, but the address of a Kirby service center. The manager of the service center told me he would contact the Kirby sales representitive and inform him he had the return unit. He also gave me the phone number of the sales representitive so I could contact him. That evening
I did contact the Kirby rep. And told him why I was returning the vaccum. I asked him when I could get my money and my vaccum which I traded in back. His only reply was read your contract. The contract states any money and trade ins will be returned in ten business days of the notifcation of the cancellation of the contract. I checked back with the manager of the service center two days later and he informed me that the vaccum I returned had been picked up on Jan. 22 by the sales rep.in the period of time between Jan. 22 and Mar. 1 I have personally been to the sales office four times and have left numerous messages which haven't been returned.
I have put a stop payment on the check but, how do I go about getting my old vaccum back. Kirby is definitely only geared towards sales and once they walk out of your home you are on your own. How does a company with such flakey people working for it stay in business?
