James McFarland used to deliver water full time in Lake Charles, Louisiana and did home repair on the side. He was supposedly laid off from his day job and created a company to do home repair full time. Do NOT hire him! Our metal patio was heavily damaged in hurricane in 2005. He didn't replace the gutters or main metal supports. He only put new sheet metal on top and NO flashing anywhere. When I called a legitimate metal contractor he thought the patio was ten years old.
I didn't know my roommate was going to hire him to replace our vinyl siding. BIG mistake. All the top pieces have fallen off. The largest area isn't even nailed down - he used staples in a few places. If a strong breeze comes along, the whole side will come off. I've had a contractor come to look at it and he can't believe how badly we were ripped off. The work was done only on weekends and he and his girlfriend had to leave the walls exposed one whole weekend so they could go to a renaissance festival. I don't know how much was paid to them but I heard a former contractor who knew him say what he suggested to charge. He didn't know that the work would not be finished or that the work done would be minimal, at best. Beware!!
