United Window Warehouse
United Air Comfort, united Restoration ripoff, dishonest, scams, rude, critical

This company is one of many who are very dishonest in the world. The company is owned and ran by Mark Berch and his 2 brothers. Back in the 80's they were in the carpet business making millions of dollars and then when that went bad they decided to rip-off more people in the HVAC business.

Everything they know has been learned from books and research since none of them have EVER been a real service technician. When the Texas Dept of Licensing and Regulation got rid of them in 2003 in Texas, they had already been trying to diversify into home remodeling such as Traco Windows, United Window Warehouse. As the license Holder for the state of Texas, I had a first hand dealing of the low-life form of humanity which scams and ripoffs unsuspecting homeowners.

In November I pulled my license from these folks, however the damage had already been done to me. Up until October I was still fighting to get rid of unfair practices which was not condoned by me, but was out of my control, which was why I chose not to be affiliated with crooked people. As of today, I have over 10 years in the HVAC field and STILL do not know everything. All of the"technicians" who worked for United, are trained by V-Tel in Florida by Mark usually or one of the Managers who was smart enough to know HVAC.

Training lasted for 1-2 hours and you better take notes or get cussed out in front of hundreds of other "Techs" throughout the USA. After training, all techs were sent into homes and encouraged to not come out with less than $500.00, since they were paid 25% straight commission. They usually get into your home from a phone call from you either an advertisement for A/C check-up which is very deceptive, or an advertisement for duct cleaning. This duct cleaning consists of a regular shop vac hooked up to your ducts and attempting to "clean and sanitize" your ducts.

This service will be advertised for $19.95 and the tune-up for $29.95. All this does is allow the tech into your home only to charge you way more than you really need. When I go into a home, I can usually find alot of things wrong or needing attention, ESPECIALLY lack of return air - (65% of homes), but I will give you the option to do them now or get a second opinion which you are entitled to.

As far as EPA certification, 1 or 2 techs were actually legally and honestly certified. The rest were certified by a manager who took the test and sent in the correct answers. So now we have hundreds of EPA certified nuts running around calling themselves HVAC techs. They dont know the purpose for a vacuum pump, micron guage, Refrigerants and the applications thereof, ETC. The list goes on forever.

If you EVER run across United Air Comfort, United Windows Warehouse, or Mark Berch, be VERY careful and cautious.in December I heard rumor they were trying to come back into Texas doing HVAC, BUT under a different name. Be careful
