Special ordered an oak bifold door to seperate two rooms. This door was chosen in the store to match one we have. Menards later called us to say the raised panel oak was not available as special order. However, they could get us a oak flush. We debated between that or a "pine" raised panel; went with oak flush due to the fact we wanted oak. When door came in it was NOT oak but rather a one sided "oak veneer". First of all, we never agreed to a veneer only door.
The one in the store was pure oak period. But also the veneer was only on one side. Apparently the vendor gives choices on one or both sided veneer and this was ordered as one sided.
Long story short, we have been charged on our Visa since early Nov. For a door ordered early October that we still do not have. Holidays are approaching. I was agreeable to settle for the veneer but ask that I be able to use the one we were given until our two sided came in or they get the two sided veneer as rush order. I was told we could NOT use that one sided door and that if I wanted the two sided by Christmas I would be charged 30 extra dollars (plus a higher item price) because they would have to have a driver go get it. (60 miles)
I then asked to return the door completely - I had no desire to even do business with them at this point. As I had been more than patient - and was willing to accept the veneer to just get along, but the Store Manager was less than professional and told me there would be a 40% re-stocking fee. I said no way. I am awaiting word from the CEO and I have filed with the Attorney General's Office here in Michigan.
If they want to treat me like the problem - I would like to go else where with my business. Bottom line, I ordered one item and was given a different one. I have a signed contract as evidence which does state "oak flush bi fold doors for such and such inch opening"... So I am done trying to "get along" with them. Now I am expecting my full refund. And I am doorless for the holidays.
