First this company started clearing my land before we signed an agreement. This was done so we would be forced to sign. Then they left all the downed trees 10 foot behind the build site and wouldn't move or dispose of them. It cost me $2,800 to have the trees removed because they could not be burned so close to the house.
The kicker came when the house was completed, it was appraise at $17,000 less than what we signed the contract for. After research we realize that United-Bilt does not do an appraisal before building the house. Banks will not finance a house that does not appraise for more than what you owe. This forces you to go with United-Bilt's financing which is at 9% which is much higher than the standard rate, (4-1/2% at the current time). These houses are not worth what you pay for them. The non-traditional financing sounds good but you won't find out there is a problem until after your home is already built.
