About five years ago I bought a DR Products 6-ton electric/hydraulic wood splitter and paid a premium price for it compared to competitive products on the market. We do most of our winter heating with firewood gathered from downed trees on our property so I wanted a unit that would last a long time. The unit came with a total of four years warranty. The unit performed great at first but I began to notice a loss of splitting power around the time the warranty expired and by the end of splitting this year it was not able to split even eight inch diameter logs routinely.
