Rebate scam

I purchased a Whirlpool washer and dryer which had a $200 mail in rebate. I sent in all the required documents and waited the alloted time to receive my check. After 4 months I still didn't get my check. I called the rebate center, but the number was disconnected. I emailed Whirlpool who gave me a different phone number to call. I called that number and they told me to resend my docs to a different address (different address than the original). This address was supposed to handle expired promotions. After several weeks, I received a letter from the rebate center saying that the promotion expired. (Of course it expired - that was the reason I sent it to that address. Knowing that rebate centers are scammers, I emailed Whirlpool hoping that they would care about their reputation and about their customers. Unfortunately, they do not. They emailed me back asking me to send them all the rebate docs (yes, for the third time). I scanned and emailed them what they requested. Now, they emailed back saying that the promotion expired. Are they kidding me?!

Additionally, not only does Whirlpool not honor their advertised rebate, the machines I bought are extremely inefficient. I purchased brand new models, and they haven't worked properly since day one! But that's a different matter...
