This scum of the earth had an ad on Craigs' List under labor gigs seeking top shelf drywall finishers. After a brtief phone conversation we adreed on a job definition and a payment arrangement... Which was to be cash at the end of each workday. At the end of day #1, he hit me with hundred dollar bills (for a good showing) and since I didn't have change, I said, "just gimmie a hundred and I'll let you make up the rest tomorrow". From then on, it was one (lame excuse) thing after another. About every 2-3 days, he'd flash a wad of cash and pull the same thing about not having any change and "I'll catch ya tomorrow". Well, now the job is done and the owner loves the quality of the work. Hector on the other hand, doesn't (nor did he ever) answer his phone (for me or anybody else) and is nowhere to be found. The owners of the (someday to be restaurant) are beside themselves even more tyhan me, 'cause they fronted this scumbag all their savings and didn't get anything in writing. I've staked-out the job because I'm told that he (sporadically) makes an appearance to give the illusion of progress being made. But to no avail. I know I could lien the property, but the poor unsuspecting owners have (technically) already paid (Hector) for my services as well as all of those before/after me up until completion... And I'll only use that as a very last resort. This guy acts as tho he's "booked solid" with work and implies that if you play ball with him... You'll be seeing lots more work from him. He's even gone so far as to call me at home and tell me that he'd be coming over to pay me in full. I'll trust him when monkeys' fly outta my butt. WHEN YOU HEAR THE NAME Hector Cobian...
