This past summer I started working for Jed Hartweg's roofing and siding company Husker Exteriors. At first, Jed, the owner seemed very professional and seemed to be a genuinely good person. He taught me everything I know about roofing and siding sales. I started getting a real bad feeling about his business practices when one of my friends that had done work for him before told me to watch out for him because he didn't pay them on a bathroom they did for him. Another time a friend of mine read in the newspaper that one of his crew members went to jail on drug charges! When I asked him about it he said he knew nothing of it and the next thing he said shocked me. He said "one thing you have to remember is never believe the things you hear and half the time you shouldn't even believe what you see!" Now I understand why someone would have to hide behind a rule like this. After working for Husker Exteriors all summer as a salesman for nothing but commission, when it came time to be paid he cut me a check for $50 on a job that he told me I was to be paid about $350.
