Kirby A very honest opinion

I've read a lot of posts on Dyro. A lot of post on Kirby. Some of them are accurate and a lot of them are not. This is just my honest opinion. I saw the ad on Craiglist (as most of you probably have). It stated something like the following:
Looking to fill positions in: customer service, office/clerical. Looking to start immediately/full time. Guaranteed month or 12/hr. Call 281-945-4373 to schedule interview.
Needless to say, I needed the money so I called for the interview.in retrospect, I should have known it was sales. When I asked the receptionist about the position filled she made sure to talk a lot yet tell me absolutely nothing. I didn't think of it being a big deal at the time so I just let it go and showed up for the interview. Upon arriving at the office, I signed my name in and filled out an application. (You know, the kind you buy in bundles at Staples to get very general information, that kind.)
A guy in his early twenties (Adam) interviewed and asked very basic questions. There was none of the usual why should we hire you / what can you bring to the company / what goals do you have, etc. He told me a bit about the company and informed me he was soon to open his own office paid for by the company (a distributor). And, I think that's what got me right there. He was 22 and had already advanced this much after being there only two years. He did mention the earning potential but at no point did he mention that I would be selling anything. I believe his words were, "You're going to be assembling and answering questions about a home appliance. We have customers who are interested in the product and your job is to answer their questions." The interview took about 5 minutes total and I walked out with a phone number I should call in a few hours. I called the number later on the same day and was congratulated with a new position. They asked me if I could show up the following day for orientation. I was excited.
I breezed through training, which typically ran from 2p-10p for three days and started selling that same weekend. Now, before I went to the field and during training I was explained how we would be paid. Training was to be paid after I had done 15 demonstrations and recited 20 questions that I had memorized. I would be paid 300 dollars, which I was. Now for selling I was told that my commission was dependent upon the price I sold it for, how they paid, credit status, and part of my commission would go to my team leader and whoever knocked it in (set the appointment). The 2000 guarantee came from a paper we signed that stated I had do 60 demonstrations within 30 days. I was told as long as I did that I would get paid.
Now, what they failed to mention was that there are things I MUST do in order for an appointment to count as a demonstration including but not limited to using 100 filters, vacuuming the customer's mattress, shampooing, pitching my contest, showing customers the difference between their vacuum and the Kirby (kill test), and each demonstration must take 2 hours in order for it count. I found that any demonstration in which I failed to complete ALL of the aforementioned tasks would result in no credit being given towards my 60 for the month. Sadly, I found this out about two weeks after I had completed orientation.
During my employment with Kirby, (I won't lie), I did make good money. There was days in which I went in to work and made $600 in two hours, again because I was a contractor, there were 80 hour weeks in which I made $50.
I stayed with the company because I really and truly believed in the opportunity. I know Kirby is something that has to be done wholeheartedly which means forgetting about everything else. I simply can't do that. Not anymore. I guess what I want to say to anyone that is reading this is... If you're looking for a job, Kirby is NOT for you. If you're looking for an opportunity and are willing to lose everything else in order to get your shot, then by all means, go for it. Go for broke. Because you will be. I know several people that will tell you it's worth it, and I know several more that will beg to differ. Your choice.
What I want to say about Dyro, is that it gives Kirby a bad name. Dyro employs people who lack management skills, people skills, and above all, morals. A great part of me respects you (Dan Blalock) for being the business man you are and having the ambition and dedication to stick it out and get where you are. Another part (equally as great) cannot stomach the thought of you simply because of the fact that you are morally disgusting. I'm pretty sure if I had your money I wouldn't give a crap either, but it saddens me to say you are a cliche. You have lots of money and you still get drugged up to alter your reality (which you brag is better than ours). You don't care about your employees, and sit back and watch them get drugged up as well. You're not a man of your word, and you take anyone leaving Dyro personally and assure the rest who remain that that person is doomed for failure. I think it might suffice to say that Dan must've been picked on in school and now does the bullying by referring to anyone who isn't Kirby-crazy as "f*cking losers".
To Jeremy (the sales manager), I want to say you're living proof that even the highest of the hive go to bed with the lowest of the low.
Fogg, you rock.
Word to you, if you ever see Kirby dealers, or someone knocking on your door, don't be mean to them. Just kindly close the door. They're just trying to make a living. And that's somebody's daughter, mother, sister, or friend, so please. I understand, to you it might just be another solicitor... But I've been on both ends. It doesn't feel nice when someone is rude to you. Kirby has an amazing product, it's simply the distributors that lack in the quality department.
If you googled Dyro because you're thinking about going to orientation or have been there for a while and got an iffy feeling... Don't go back. Like I said if you're looking for a job, it's not for you. To everyone back at Dyro who is doing well (and there are some) Stay Positive! It was great while it lasted. Just not for me, anymore.
