I am amazed to see how many people have gotten a raw deal with Clayton Homes. We too were lied to. We were looking for a home with drywall and was told that we would not get the normal vinyl covered board. They said the vinyl cover board would come with the home but they would overlay drywall at a fee of $10,000.00 which we agreed on. When the home arrived we seen it was vinyl wall board and expected the contractor they had coming to finish the inside would lay the drywall and complete the texturing. We were wrong and when we called Clayton Homes they said we must have been mistaken and misunderstood the conversation. There was not misunderstanding because this is something we specificly wanted.in addition to that we were also told we would have entry ways to the water heater and furnace with door entries and not panels which we did not get either.
There is a list of things as long as my arm that I could give you up to the point of the manager calling my wife a "loud mouthed bitch". I have looked for an attorney and the one I spoke with just asked me, "what do you want me to do" and said all he could do is send a letter as sort of a threat to let them know there was an attorney involved. These people are rude and take advantage of the general public. I am very upset with the service we got and how they handled the set up.
