I hired Steve Ashworth on 2-11-09 to build a new house after mine burned down. He came out, drew a sketch of how the house would look and how the inside would be. I asked him if he was a builder and he said yes. He told me the house would be finished by June 30th. I had to pay him $9500.00 down payment with a payment of $8500.00 for materials and was to pay him $8500.00 a week as the work progressed.By the time I realized he wasn't getting anywhere I had paid him $61,000 of the $73,000 he was charging me.
He would tell me he was coming out to work and never show up. This happened all the time. He had a whole list of excuses, the weather, problems on another job, or the most common one, he was stuck out of town and couldn't get back for a few days. Then of course he stopped taking my calls.
This man is a liar and a con artist and he is running a scam. Do not hire him for anything no matter what he tells you. You will be sorry you did. All he did was take my money and he left me with a trench and some sewer pipe.
