In 1986 I bought a small studio fixed timeshare in Puerto Vallarta from Universal Vacation club. I wanted the smallest, cheapest unit available.
For 20 years I paid maintenance fees for a small studio
In 2006 UVC decided that the size of the unit was miscalculated and it was renamed a large studio and the maintenace fees increased proportionately.
I was never notified nor given any alternatives other than start paying the higher fees.
It took me 2 years to get any responses to my queries as to why the unit was reclassified.in the end the miscalculation was explained to me and I was informed that I wouldn't be responsible for retroactive underpayment of fees for 20 years but I would have to pay the increase for the balance of my contract.
I have offered to change to another small unit but I want reimbursement for the overpayment for the last few years and only be responsible for maintenance fees for a small unit for the balance of my contract.
