Ralph Barnhardt, aka Ray or Rick, has a history of ripping off people. He responds to ads on Craigslist claiming to know everything about whatever you're posting for (paving, asphalt, painting, terminating fiber, etc.) and he sends a confusing, misleading reply demanding $75 for a site inspection.
When I called his bluff, he responded with intense profanity (all misspelled) as well as threats and other unprintable things.
I've had 2 run-ins with him and both times he was overly arrogant and refused to discuss his qualifications, relying on using big words inappropriately and trying to confuse the issue. It sounds exactly like someone who looks up "how to terminate fiber" to educate himself before calling a client. He poses as a handyman and gets away with it. Don't trust this man!
I recently Googled his name and phone number and found this other complaint just written on 5/21/09. I also saw that he's selling everything in his Fremont home and moving away. I repeat, don't give this man any business because he will probably take your deposit and move away.
His number posted on his ad is 510-395-6128 and he uses these emails: [email protected], [email protected]
I checked and could not find his name on the CA Contractor's State License Board. He claims to be retired. WATCH OUT and don't give him any money!
