Here comes a free dinner. A company by the name of Georgia Energy Control located in Powder Springs, Ga has a sales force selling a Thermal Blanket for your attic. You will receive a mailer that invites you to a free dinner. First the sky is falling pitch when a hi pressure sales person wants to come to your home.
I bought but not from Georgia Energy Control.
The Good News:
The Product (enrgy saver RB) does work. My house is cooler and my bills have decreased some.
The Bad News:
Get ready for a high pressure sales pitch and $2 dollars plus per square foot with what they call a 10 percent "overage" charge.
The company does not have a distribution or proprietorship on this material as they claim. Its an alluminum mylar they call Energy Saver RB.
I called Michael Walter (my regular contractor) with Around the House services and had this product installed for just 95 cents per square foot. They did a great job and I highly recommend them. He can be reached at 770-633-4123.
My attic was 1600 square feet so at 2.25 with Georgia Energy Control my bill was $3768.75 with Around the House Services my bill was $1520.
The Sales Pitch
Get ready for "Buy today or loose discount" shpeal.
I was also offered 500 dollars in "free" gas and 500 dollars in "free" groceries. Don't believe this scam either. You have to register online with some company and mail in at least 100 dollars worth of receipts EVERY MONTH on gas and Groceries and then you receive a card or something in the mail for 25 dollars off your next 100 dollar purchase.
"The Guarantee"
The gentleman who was pitching me this product showed me a copy of the sales contract and the "in writing" guarantee. The guarantee is a savings of an average of 20 percent over the next 5 years! And how do you know you have saved 20 percent? You must have electric and gas bills for 5 years prior to the install. I think my cost of living will go up at least 20 percent in 10 years so the guarantee is bogus.
This company claims to have been in business for 25 years. Well when I looked them up online the company was only 2 years old. Red Flags went up all over the place for me.in these hard times don't get ripped off. Like I said this is a great product but not at 2.25 per square foot.
