I have gone through 3 gas powered weed wackers from this company. Never has the company replaced anything. The customer service is obsolete and it seems that it has been subcontracted out to some dot heads that gone through a cue card of rebuttals until you just hang up on them. They ignore all of the BBB complaints and they just go unresolved. They think they are too big and they may be right. The average joe just buys their products not knowing the inferior quality they represent. This is why American companies are going away. Everything is made half arse and their is no accountability or standards by which they have to follow. It takes an act of god to get the retailers to take these products back regardless of age or if it has not even been used. They know the products are junk and they basically eat the cost on the returns of these items. MTD more than likely does not accept RTV's on these piles of dung which leaves everyone out in the cold. Do yourself a favor, do not buy anything from them once so ever. Pay the few extra bucks and buy a Honda product. One or two pulls and they start everytime. Unless you have hours to waste trying to get one of MTD's products to start, go ahead and try and save yourself $20. You will regret it 2 months down the road. I hope this company goes out of business. Avoid all of their other products disguised under other brand names.
