Rip off, they will try everything they can to deny your claim

I have a policy with AHS in GA.

Last week while I heat my dinner, the regular TV dinner type with a plastic container and I heard a boo sound from it and then it stopped working. It can still be turned on, but the food won't be heated. So I called AHS and placed a service request. Later on Saturday, the contractor Ban from Piedmont Mechanical Contractors Inc (770-554-7674) came into my house, did a quick look and told me the problem is the magnetron failed. He used his flash light showed me some black metal spot that came from the magnetron.

He wrote down the model for my microwave and told me he would place order for the part and would get back with me on phone. Also he charged me $55 for service call fee which I know it is part of AHS policy. The whole process is in about 10 minutes. On Monday, I got phone call from AHS told me my claim is denied because the problem is not a normal wear, because I got metal in my microwave oven. I called back and ask why? They told me I must have been using metal container which caused magnetron failed.

I told them it is not true, the metal is metal spot that came from magnetron. Then they said because the contractor told them it is not a normal wear. Then I called Piedmont Mechanical Contractors and PMC told me their contractors never told AHS whether it is a normal wear or not a normal wear, the decision is completely made by AHS. Then I called AHS again and AHS told me the only option I have is, request them to send another contractor to check it again, and also there will be another $55 charge on it.

I feel all they are doing is to get $55 and then deny your claim. I told the AHS said I have the pictures about the metal and I can send to them, they said it won't work and the only option I have is to request another check up. If they keep doing this again, how could another check up help? They will screw me again.

I think the pictures should show everything. BUT they don't want to cover it and says it is not normal wear. Then what is normal wear? They send their contractor out who will only tell you that you will need to pay a service call fee. When you ask why they deny your claim, they will say, ok, if you don't agree, I will send another contractor to check it again FOR YOU, by the way, you may need to pay another service call fee. Then they could deny you again. They can play this trap over and over and over again.

Also for the contractor company, Piedmont Mechanical Contractors Inc (770-554-7674), I don't think that is an honest company either. When I called them, they know everything about my request and they know my claim was denied too. They said the decision was made by AHS completely, has nothing to do with them. But AHS said the contractor told them it is not a normal wear. They point fingers to each other and just try to get rid of our regular consumers. I would say, never never use either of them. Very bad practice.

They will take your money and screw you.
