My wheelchair bound wife has allergies that are better in cold temperatures. We kept our home at 69-70F to make her feel better. Our normally $150-200.00 electric bill was $750.00 in one summer month so we decided to by a low cost cooler to just blow the cool air on her. We found a swamp cooler at compactappliance.com that seemed to fill the bill.
The cooler arrived in a timely manner but the water height indicator was broken. I looked at it and 4 of the six plastic pins were sheared off. I cleaned off the broken ones and put the gauge back in place.
We filled it with 4 gallons of water and 2 blue ice packs. It holds 5 gallons. The fan blew a tremendous amount of air, we heard water movement, but, no cool air came out. My wife tried it for one week and decided it did nothing but humidify the room.
I read the directions, repacked it in the original package and put it in my minivan.
CompactAppliance said it had to be returned to the manufacturer: Edgestar Products. I tried calling the number given and it was a dead line. I called them again, got a message phone, and left a message to call me. They never returned my call.
I tried the Edgestar number: 866-261-9867 again, and got the message "your call can not be completed at this time, please check the number and call again". I tried calling Rudy Cantu at 1-800-297-6076 #112 and left a message with my cell number. No response. This company was listed in BBB as satisfactory! What gives?
