I purchased a 24' x 24' carport from Tommy's Carport's on 07/09 for $3100. I told Charles Cotten (the owner) when he installed it I did not want any posts in front of my gate so I can still get through it. Charles installed the carport and finished on 07/09. The carport collapsed on 10/06 because of the design and lack of steel in the structure. The carport fell on to my truck which Farmers Insurance said was totaled at a replacement of $1875. I called Charles and he came out and looked at it and said that "I should have used the 8" steel but another company had purchased it all". Charles also said that Lawry's in Paradise Texas would support the design and he (Charles) would get back with me. I have left several messages and Charles will not call me back. I do not want this to happen to another customer and want to take action to the fullest extent to make sure it does not.
