The Zero Company, Tecta America Corporation
Zero Company, TectaAmerica Corp Avoid the Zero Company and the Tecta America Corporation!

To the Reader: If you are doing an Internet search on the Tecta America Corporation and one of its divisions like the Zero Company, then you will find this report, and the following reports, that describe my experiences and opinions very informative!

To the fans of the complaint website: This report is about a $14,000 dollar roofing job that was done on my home by a division of the Tecta America Corporation called the Zero Company.

Over the next week, I will be posting several updates with actual letters that were sent to the Vice-Presidents, Senior Vice-Presidents and President of the Zero Company. These updates will provide additional information about my experiences that include an incident where I felt threatened by a Vice-President, new fascia that cracked and split, a Roof Peak that collapsed and a water leak that came into my living room and other details.

So without further ado, the following complaint letter was sent to the Ohio AG's office and to the Cincinnati Better Business Bureau. Please note that some minor editing has been done for clarity!

Re: The Zero Company Formal Complaint

To Whom It May Concern:

I wish to file a formal complaint against the Zero Company' for the following points:

1. The Zero Company's proposal dated May 30th is very clear that there are only two pages the Zero Company added a third page, which is marked page 2 of 2, that is not signed or initialed! (A professional company would not pull this questionable stunt on a customer!)

2. The Zero Company's proposal dated May 30th fails to include a three day rescission option! (The sales rep was very clear not too go down to the office to pickup a copy of the contract that it would be mailed to me It is my belief that the Zero Company is in violation of Ohio Consumer Protection Laws by not providing the three day cancellation option!)

3. The Zero Company routinely violated the contract by failing to have employees and sub-contractors use safety equipment while on the roof. Managers encourage this serious OSHA Safety Violation by calling ahead to warn workers when they are coming out to visit the job site! (Safety and OSHA Regulations are not a priority with this company and it is only a matter of time before a worker is injured from a fall!)

4. The Zero Company routinely violated the contract by failing to leave the worksite in a neat and orderly fashion when I pointed out that I was still picking up nails and debris two weeks after the roof was done I was told Oh well you'll have that at a job site!'

5. The Zero Company's proposal dated July 16 clearly shows Regular, Introductory and special pricing it was strongly hinted and suggested that referrals would be appreciated. (It is to my understanding and belief that offering special discounts for referrals is a clear violation of Ohio Consumer Protection Laws the fact that the Zero Company official commented that they shouldn't be doing this tells me that they are fully aware of this fact as well!)

6. The Zero Company routinely misrepresented warranty information for GAF/Elk products I can provide documentation from the Zero Company that supports this claim and it shows that they did represent that: A GAF Standard 15 Year Golden Pledge Warranty. This warranty is non-prorated and covers workmanship, labor and material. It does not cover 'Everything' as claimed!

7. The Zero Company routinely misrepresented warranty information for Atlas Corporation products and on 7/01/08 I pointed out that the, the Atlas Corporation does not offer a 45 50 year warranty as your staff has alluded to while inspecting my roof.

8. On 7/18/01, the Zero Company contacted the Atlas Corporation accusing me of trying to get a Rise' out of them this was in retaliation for contacting the Atlas Corporation for Warranty information I had not identified the Zero Company. There is no excuse for the rude & unprofessional conduct concerning this incident!

9. The Zero Company falsely claimed that daily quality control inspections would be done had these inspections been preformed, I would not have Zero Company Employees on my roof today replacing shingles for a fourth time! (If the workers had taken the time to install the drip edge trim first then they would have avoided Eyeballing' where the shingles needed to go another contributing factor was the failure to have adequate supplies on hand for the job!)

In closing: The fact that the Roof Peak collapsed during a rainstorm that during yet another rain storm water was dripping into the living room and that as I write this complaint, they are replacing shingles speaks volumes for the poor quality roof that the Zero Company installed and this roof isn't even three months old yet!

To the reader: I will be posting additional complaint updates about Tecta America Corporation's Zero Company Division!
